houghton and Kingmoor church

Retired

There are many retired folk who are very active in serving in the church. With more time available, retirement is often an opportunity to get involved in new areas of church life or commit more time to digging deeper into the Bible.  Our Daytime Ministries are ideal for those who are available during the day and include:

Mid-Week Service

Thursdays, 11am at St Peter’s, Kingmoor
Our Thursday congregation, led by Fraser Clark, meets for a simple service, followed by refreshments and time together.  This offers an oasis during the week, and an opportunity for those who struggle to make Sundays.

Refresh

Once a month on a Monday, 2-3.30pm at St Peter’s, Kingmoor
A space to enjoy emotional, physical, and spiritual refreshment together. Join us for a relaxed time with friends over a cuppa together with sweet and savoury treats, a choice of desserts, including some suitable for those following a diabetic diet, plus a short Gospel thought to encourage us. Everyone is very welcome—we’d love to see you there!

Men’s Study Group

Alternate Tuesdays, 10.15am at St John’s, Houghton
A relaxed and informal opportunity to study the Bible together over a cuppa.

Mothers’ Union

Once a month on a Tuesday, 2pm at St John’s, Houghton
Mothers’ Union is an international Christian charity that seeks to support families worldwide.  Houghton and Kingmoor Mothers’ Union provides fellowship and teaching from guest speakers.  The programme is varied, sometimes delving into the Bible, sometimes learning of needs around the world or closer to home. Once a month we receive a wonderful welcome at The Knells care home where we share a short service with staff and residents. Please come and join us, especially as we look forward to 2026 when Mothers’ Union celebrates 150 years of Christian care and concern for family life.  For more information please see their website: mothersunion.org/diocese/carlisle
